The University of California, San Diego - Preuss School

The University of California, San Diego began 33 years ago as a bold, experimental concept. The campus was built on imagination, energy, and daring. Today, UCSD continues this enormously successful tradition with its creation of the Preuss School.

An intensive college preparatory educational program for low-income students, the Preuss School will offer young people from disadvantaged homes and neighborhoods the opportunity to realize their full potential. In doing so, this unique, alternative middle school and high school will become a model school that will enrich and transform education throughout the nation and into the next century.

Construction of five classroom buildings and an administrative building with gymnasium and library was completed in 2000. University installed plumbing for the new facilities.

The Preuss School Team:
Engineer: Bechard Long & Associates
General Contractor: Nielsen Dillingham Builders
University project manager: John Miley
University labor leader: Neil Gagian
