Oxford Automotive
Monterrey, Mexico
Oxford Automotive's newest auto stamping and assembly facility may have been constructed in Monterrey, Mexico, but the mañana (tomorrow) work style was nowhere in evidence. Getting it done ayer (yesterday) was more like it.
Antonio "Tony" Castillo, a University Phoenix Division mechanical coordinator, assisted Kitchell Mexico in the early and below budget completion of the 325,000-square-foot facility. Tony's administrative and technical support services included coordinating Kitchell's local mechanical subcontractor for the facility's HVAC and plumbing systems.
The new facility houses a 140,000-square-foot stamping area with a 72-foot clearance to accommodate 32 presses and six overhead cranes. A rail spur used to transport coiled steel runs into the building's stamping area. The plant also features a 160,000-square-foot assembly area, an electrical substation, and office space.
With more than 20 facilities in the United States, Mexico, Canada, South America, and Europe, Oxford Automotive is a major supplier to automotive manufacturers throughout the world. The company's philosophy, "Better systems. Brighter solutions." is definitely in evidence at its newest facility in Monterrey.
