Showcase Projects
Glendale Arena
Glendale, CA

The National Hockey League Coyotes soon will be skating in a new, state-of-the-art arena in Glendale, Ariz. The 17,500-seat, multi-purpose arena is under construction now and will open in December 2003.

Massive and complex in design, engineering, and construction, this fast-track, design-assist, GMP project has us working at the speed of a Gretzky slapshot. We’ve placed a premium on teamwork, with our client tapping University’s skill and experience to maintain the aggressive schedule and coordinate closely with other trades.

University crews have been on-site since August completing sleeves and underground work in preparation for installing the arena’s entire plumbing and HVAC systems. The arena foundations and soil-nailed basement walls are in place, and construction is beginning to go vertical with the main concourse level. When the project is complete, we will have installed 2,400 tons of cooling, 500,000 pounds of ductwork, four 110,000 cfm air-handling units, 220 fan coil units, thousands of plumbing fixtures and drains, and about 30 miles of pipe.

This project continues University’s sporting tradition in the Phoenix Valley. We completed the mechanical work for two other major venues, Bank One Ballpark and America West Arena.
